Template:LoneWolf

This template produces a link to the Lone Wolf books published by Project Aon. The following steps are considered in turn to determine the return value of the template:

1. If the book parameter is blank, the template returns a link to the Project Aon home page.
2. If the book parameter is not recognised, the template returns an explanatory error message.
3. If the book parameter refers to a Lone Wolf book that has not yet been published on Project Aon, the template returns a link to the Project Aon FAQ on unpublished books (this currently includes books 25 to 28).
4. Otherwise the book parameter refers to a Lone Wolf book that has been published on Project Aon:
   1. If the section parameter is blank, the template returns a link to the main Project Aon page for the target book.
   2. If the section parameter is not recognised, the template returns an explanatory error message.
   3. If the section parameter is recognised but is not valid for the specified book, the template returns an explanatory error message.
   4. Otherwise the section parameter is valid, and the template returns a link to the relevant section of the relevant book on Project Aon.

The template works for all Lone Wolf books from 1 (Flight from the Dark) to 28 (The Hunger of Sejanoz) as published up to 1998 (these are the books licensed to Project Aon). More recent editions of these books (Mongoose Publishing, from 2007 onwards), and later books in the Lone Wolf series (29 to 32) are not included in Project Aon and so are not included in this template.

Where:

• 'book' is the number of a book in the Lone Wolf series as licensed to Project Aon (or leave blank to return a link to the Project Aon home page).
• 'section' is the number of a section in the specified book, or a text value as specified below (or leave blank to return a link to the main Project Aon page for the book).

Maintenance

This template includes full links to all parts of Lone Wolf books 1 (Flight from the Dark) to 24 (Rune War). At the time of writing, no further Lone Wolf books had yet been published by Project Aon.

The list of books on Project Aon changes over time as further completed titles are published. As such any new releases must be coded into this and other supporting templates to update the valid parameter values.

The following lists which data items will need to be updated if certain events occur:

• Any of books 25 to 28 are published by Project Aon
  • Template:LoneWolf: Section handling and validation as necessary; Maximum number of sections as necessary.
  • Template:LoneWolfLongRef: Long reference code used by Project Aon for the URL of the book's project page.
  • Template:LoneWolfShortRef: Short reference code used by Project Aon for the URL of the book's individual pages.
  • Template:LoneWolfFileName: Filename used by Project Aon for the URL of the book's individual pages.
  • Template:LoneWolfRank: The broad Kai rank to which the book relates.
  • Template:LoneWolfMapName: The title of the map for the book.
  • Template:LoneWolfMaxSections: The amount of numbered sections for the book.
• Any of books 29 to 32 are licensed to Project Aon
  • All of the above, and additionally...
  • Template:LoneWolfBookName: The name of the book.
